The Philosophy of Qualified Non-Dualism
In philosophy of mind, dualism is a set of views about the relationship between mind and matter, which begins with the claim that mental phenomena are, in some respects, non-physical.
Non – dualism holds that everything in the world permeates from the first cause and there is no distinction between non – entity, physical objects and mental objects.
The philosophy of qualified non – dualism or vishistadvaita (in Sanskrit) propounds that the world is non-dualism of the qualified whole, in which the first cause alone is characterized by multiplicity.
The followers of Vishishtadvaita (Sanskrit) in India are the popular sect named as “Vaishnavites”. There are other major sects such as Buddhism and Christianity which preach “Qualified Non_Dualism” as well. Even though spiritual traditions are questioned and mocked by Scientists, there is great meaning one can see when skimming through the spiritual scriptures of any religion leave alone Hinduism or Christianity. The goal of religion is to inculcate ideas of “Value” of human life rather than popular notions of “Success”
The Philosophy of “Vishishtadvaita” (Sanskrit) or the philosophy of qualified non-dualism was given to the world by Sri Ramanuja who was a great Hindu saint who lived during the 19th century. Sri Ramauja was in fact a bachelor who was deserted by his wife, but after some shocking personal incidents, decided to engage his mind in Philosophy and gave the world the tenet of “Qualified Non-dualism”.
The understanding of the 3 principles of Vishisht Advaita are namely, the perception of the sentient being, perception of the insentient being and perceiving of god within human form.
The knowledge of all these three along with devotion and self surrender leads to liberation from bondage.
