Description: Common Buddhist Text: Guidance and Insight from the Buddha is one of the most extensive anthologies of translations from a wide variety of Buddhist scriptures and other key texts. The anthology summarizes all the fundamental teachings Buddhism on a variety of subjects, including the nature of the Buddha, the nature of Dharma/Dhamma, social relationships, human life, karma, rebirth, nirvana, enlightenment, ethics and morality, wisdom, meditation, rules for monastics vs. lay people, etc. The texts are selected from and organized by the three major branches of Buddhism: Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. Therefore, they represent the teachings of Buddhism as a whole instead of a particular branch or school. This book is meant to be a universal Buddhist text resource and was first created in 2015 by the International Council for the Day of Vesak (ICDV) and Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) in Bangkok, Thailand.
