EDITOR'S NOTE In arranging the Mass in A by Cesar Franck , and adding the fourth voice (alto), great care has been taken to preserve the composer's original idea, and in no instance has the composer's harmony been interfered with. Where the small notes occur in the voice parts, they are the original; the large notes in the same staff having been added or transposed by the Editor. Omitting the alto part and using the small notes reduces this version to the author's original. K. E.
