Description
Alexander (Allie) Windwick (1913-1999) is probably the best known of Orkney's composers of traditional songs and tunes. Partans in his Creel is one of 40 and is written in the Orkney dialect. The song was first recorded in Kirkwall for an LP in 1978. The English composer Clive Strutt (b. 1942) who lives in Orkney has made two arrangements of this song: one for solo soprano with a piano accompaniment and another as a choral version (SATB). They can both also be found in Volume II From an old Orkney Croft in his Orkney Songbook.
