About this Book

The U.S. bishops have chosen the term lay ecclesial minister to describe lay people who have professionally prepared for ministry within the Church. Together in God's Service is a beginning effort to explore the theological basis for that growing phenomenon. Looks at the sociological and demographic reality of such ministers and then probes sacramental theology, church history, Scripture, canon law, and magisterial teaching to help understand its place in the life of the Church.
