Buckingham Families, Volume 1, Periodical Sources

About this Book

"Brought together, here, in one collection, the notices regarding Buckingham County, Virginia. The collection herein represents the second effort in that regard following the author's 'Freshest Advices, Genealogical Records from Newspapers' and debuts the series 'Buckingham Families,' of which this installment is labeled 'Volume 1'. Included here are additional articles extracted from newspapers, not included in 'Freshest Advices,' a large number of biographies of Buckingham county settlers from state and county histories of Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Arkansas, Iowa, Oregon and others, many references to journal articles, newsletters and periodicals. Some are obscure, most would likely not be searched or even located by the average historian or genealogist. Any reference to Buckingham County is important; that was my discriminating thought. Within this compilation, it is hoped, is another important addition to the historical and genealogical resources available for this burned county. Curious researchers should find a wealth of general, and specific information that will again add to the history of Buckingham County and her people. The reader will uncover lost connections resulting from marriages, court cases, the westward migration and myriad other circumstances. The exhaustive 100-plus page, two column, index with some 25,000 entries, makes researching and gleaning pertinent information effortless and this ease facilitates discoveries that would otherwise be impratical."--page 4 of cover.
