Hill Family History
About this Book
Alexander Hill (b.1779) was a son of Daniel and Mary Hill, born in Skipness, Argyllshire, Scotland. He was a sailor in his younger years, and married Elizabeth Currie in 1806. In 1821 they immigrated to Lanark Township, Bathurst District (probably in New Brunswick) and in 1833 moved to Tossoronto Township, Simcoe County, Ontario. One of the daughters, Agnes, married John Richards in 1831. When John Taylor and Parley P. Pratt came to Ontario in Canada to preach the gospel, they converted both the Hill and the Richards families, both of whom immigrated (via Nauvoo, Illinois) to Utah. Descendants and relatives lived in Utah, Idaho, Arizona and elsewhere.
