The text includes an introductory overview of key geologic concepts and the geographic history of Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC; sections covering the Allegheny Plateau, Valley and Ridge and Blue Ridge Provinces, Piedmont Province, and Coastal Plain; and a glossary of terms. Each section opens with a general description of the area's geological features, followed by detailed road guides for routes in the area. The work is illustrated with betw and color photographs, maps, and diagrams.
