Towards Independence of Tanganyika. An eye-witness account of the life of a colonial official - Michael Longford. Arriving in Tanganyika in 1951, he was licensed as a lay reader by the first African Anglican Bishop in Tanganyika, and through his work at Government House saw Tanganyika's rapid and harmonious progress to Independence in December 1961.
