The Bible and the Business of Life
About this Book
The Bible and the Business of Life is a volume to honor Robert Banks on his 65th birthday and to mark his retirement as Director of Macquarie Christian Studies Institute at Macquarie University. Banks is perhaps Australia's most original theologian, having written seminal books such as Paul's Idea of Community, The Tyranny of Time, and The Complete Book of Everyday Christianity. In this book's three areas of exegesis, ecclesiology, and everyday life a distinguished caste of friends bridge the alleged gap between the Bible and the Business of Life. They address such issues as the living oral nature of the Christian tradition, the interaction between Ecclesiastes and contemporary film, the theology of vocation in Dorothy Sayers and a postmodern world, leadership, family, education, and verandahs and humane housing design. All with a coherence provided by the Bible, Banks' highly integrated thought, and its influence upon the contributors.
