T_Visionarium
About this Book
"T_Visionarium is a major landmark in new media art of which there are few substantial monographs. Viewers enter a space, don 3D glasses and are bombarded by images of 24 hours of television shows divided up into different emotions: love; fear etc. The project uses the latest advances in automated video analysis, multi-media search and retrieval and high-volume video streaming. The book will add to the experience by conveying the ways in which audiences can use the work to deepen their understanding of media, as well as its artistic, cultural, philosophical and technological implications. There are chapters on the changing architecture of screens, narrative cinema, how to read gesture and emotional expression, and the future of video, TV and art. Plus discussion of some interesting, quirky data on the key components of popular TV shows. TV_II premiered at Scientia, UNSW in 2006. The project is sponsored by an ARC Discovery Grant and will be part of next years Sydney Festival. Includes DVD, 16pp colour section and 18pp concertina fold-out." -- Provided by publisher.
