Cade Knight was not impressed by the idea of attending yet another Halloween party in Nowhere, Wyoming. Cade knew what was expected of him-as the most prominent rancher, businessman, and bachelor in his diminutive hometown, he needed to make at least an appearance at Mrs. Dietrich's annual costume ball. While he always felt just a little bit ridiculous when dressing up, there was a silver lining to the evening: Mrs. Dietrich had promised him to find a new cook for the Double K Ranch, his beloved ranch and the center of his business empire. The ranch still had not recovered from the uncouth Delilah Willglen, whose foul mouth and propensity for thievery, lying, and eating on the job had left the kitchen a wreck and a ranch full of hungry cowpokes. Margo Benchley would rather be anywhere than Nowhere, Wyoming. After escaping a sordid past in Seattle, Margo found herself penniless and on the verge of hopelessness. In her desperation she accepted a job with the only caterer in town - Delilah Willglen. Delilah's cruelty knew no ends as she constantly found a way to express her own insecurities on the beautiful Margo. As the biggest party of the year approached, Margo could hardly look herself in the mirror as she put on the overly revealing Old West saloon girl costume. She couldn't help but wait for her knight in shining armor to rescue her from the dreadfulness. As a round of guests all dressed as James Garner characters entered, the thought of anything productive coming from this evening seemed remote at best. As the straight-laced but introverted Cade approached the bar looking for something to make the crowd a bit more tolerable, he had no idea that the strikingly beautiful bartender was actually a warrior of a woman who would forever change The Double K Ranch.
