About this Book

Set in smalltown Mississippi a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle Scott (alias Miss Hot Tamale) is rehearsing for the Miss Firecracker contest. The arrival of ehr cousing Elain, a former contest winner, complicates matters, as does Elain's brother Delmount's repeated threat to sell the family homestead and decamp to New Orleans.
