About this Book
George and Veronica Hain emigrated from the Palatinate, Germany to America, where they first landed in New York and later settling in Schoharie. "In the autumn of 1710, [they with] about fifteen hundred were taken up the Hudson and settled on lands purchased from Robert Livingston by the Provincial Council of New York. ... After the unfair treatment they received in New York, they believed they could find safety in Pennsylvania. Leaving Schoharie in 1723, thirty-three families [including the Hains] ... became pioneers of portions of Berks and Lebanon counties [Pennsylvania]. From a point in the Lebanon Valley probably northwest of Myerstown they moved eastward, some settling in Womelsdorf community and others finding homes in the Cacoosing section."--Page 5. "George Hain died in 1746, and his wife Veronica about the latter part of 1756, both buried in the oldest part of the Hain's Church graveyard"--Page 8. which is located near the borough of Wernersville. Descendants lived mainly in Pennsylvania
