The three Krueger brothers draft evaders in WWI in Withee Wisconsin chose to defend their pacifist beliefs with guns blazing. A dramatic shotout in Withee left two mwn dead and several wounded as well as an ugly legacy of goverment intervention gone awry. Jerry Buss the author was born and grew up a few miles from the Krueger homestead.
