Sarah Raymond Herndon (1840-1914) was a school teacher in Virginia City, Montana Territory. Diary (January-December 1866) depicts life in Virginia City from a young woman's viewpoint. Two letters (1899) to Laura Howey discuss the history of education in Virginia City. (MF 143B).
