About this Book

This is the journal of Daisy Fay Harper, named for a vase of flowers in her mother's hospital room. The journal begins in 1952 when Daisy Fay is a lonely eleven-year-old child and ends six years later when she becomes the assured and flamboyant winner of the Miss Mississippi Contest. Along the way we are introduced to the raffish and outrageous characters who help her undergo this transformation.
