An integrated Korean coursebooks reflecting the latest in Korean culture!

“Hi! Korean” is a series of integrated Korean coursebooks created for foreign learners who have started studying Korean because they like Korean culture. The contents of these textbooks include the latest trends in Korean culture, and various activities are presented so that learners can master the 4 areas of language; speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

The composition of the series is consistent from the beginner level to advanced, with speaking, listening, reading, and writing presented organically, and listening and reading presented separately by unit, organized to increase concentration of learning in each area. In particular, in the “Step Up!” section, which moves away from activities centered on simply answering questions, learners can develop their communication skills by expanding on what they learned through speaking and writing activities.

The “Hi! Korean” series is comprised of 12 Student’s Books (4 beginner, 4 intermediate, and 4 advanced) and an additional “Grammar and Vocabulary Study Book,” as well as 8 Workbooks (4 beginner, 4 intermediate), which are sold separately.

"Hi! Korean 6B" is designed to offer in-depth, theme-based learning across various domains, focusing on contemporary Korean society and culture. It also addresses humanities and social science topics that are especially useful for advanced learners who intend to major in Korean language or Korean studies.

The book includes a wide variety of listening and reading materials across genres such as casual conversations, debates, lectures, interviews, news articles, and advertisements, all tailored for advanced-level learners. These texts serve as a foundation for developing practical speaking and writing skills.

Notably, the final subunit of each chapter offers integrated TOPIK-style questions—including reading, listening, speaking, and writing—based on the chapter’s theme. This enables learners to both strengthen their overall Korean proficiency and gain practical test-taking experience in preparation for the TOPIK exam.

Hi! Korean 시리즈는 한국 문화가 좋아서 한국어 공부를 시작한 외국인 학습자를 대상으로 만들어진 통합 한국어 코스북이다. 최신 트렌드의 한국 문화를 교재 내용에 담았고, 말하기, 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기의 4가지 영역을 마스터할 수 있도록 다양한 활동을 제시하였다.

본 시리즈의 전체적인 구성은 Student Book 전 12권(초급 4권, 중급 4권, 고급 4권)과 Workbook 전 8권(초급 4권, 중급 4권)으로 이루어져 있다. Student Book에는 별책인 ‘문법·어휘 학습서’가 포함되어 있으며, Workbook은 별도로 판매된다.

초급부터 고급까지 일관성 있는 구성으로 말하기, 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기 영역을 유기적으로 제시하고 있으며, 과별로 듣기와 읽기를 분리 제시하여 영역별로 학습 집중도를 높일 수 있도록 구성하였다. 특히, ‘한 단계 오르기’ 과에서는 문제 풀이 중심 활동에서 벗어나 학습한 내용과 주제에 맞추어 듣기, 읽기, 말하기, 쓰기 활동을 함으로써 의사소통 역량을 향상하며 한국어 능력 시험에도 대비할 수 있게 하였다.

초, 중급 단계에서는 워크북을 통해 본책에서 학습한 표현을 활용하여 다양한 연습 활동을 할 수 있으며, 고급 단계에서는 워크북을 통한 문형 연습을 생략하는 한편, 본책 내에 생활 밀착형 듣기, 읽기 자료를 더욱 풍부하게 제공하여 실제 상황에서의 한국어 활용 능력을 극대화할 수 있도록 하였다.

Hi! Korean 6B는 현대 한국 사회에 대한 심도 있는 주제와 문화, 그리고 더 나아가 한국어 혹은 한국학을 전공하고자 하는 고급 학습자들에게 유용한 인문 사회학적 자료들이 영역별로 구성되어 있다. 고급 화자들을 위한 일상 대화, 토론, 강연, 인터뷰, 기사, 광고문 등 다양한 장르의 듣기와 읽기 텍스트를 제공하고, 이를 확장하여 실제적인 말하기와 쓰기에 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 특히 마지막 소단원인 ‘TOPIK 유형으로 확인하기’에서는 단원별 주제와 연계된 읽기, 듣기, 말하기, 쓰기 문항을 제시하여 한국어 능력 시험을 준비하는 학습자들이 한국어 실력을 다지고 실전 연습을 할 수 있도록 하였다.
