About this Book

An account of attempts by Moore, Tennessee State Director of Library, Archives and History, to retrieve many manuscripts relating to Tennessee history which were collected by Draper from Tennessee sources or written in his research, but were largely unused for historical writing by Draper and were left to the State Historical Society of Wisconsin upon his death. Also includes an account of Draper's travels and research in Tennessee and passages on such subjects of Tennessee history as Andrew Jackson and his slave Alfred Jackson, who lived at the Hermitage after emancipation until his death in 1901.
