About this Book

This record group consists of three accessions. The first accession consists of two series. The first series, Faculty Associations and Issues, is comprised of material from Gary Mullen's work on behalf of the Auburn University Faculty. Items in this series include correspondence, reports, articles, newspaper clippings, programs, brochures, minutes, data, forms, notes, and agendas. Much material from this series comes from Mullen's work on the Auburn University Senate and Auburn University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors. Some issues that feature prominently in this series are various disagreements between the University Senate and Board of Trustees, Auburn University's probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Auburn Athletics, and issues within the Auburn Alumni Association. The second series, Entomology Material and Associations, consists of syllabi, course preparation material, research, notes, reports, and data related specifically to Mullen's work in the field of entomology. It also includes professional correspondence and information pertaining to Mullen's membership in various entomology related professional organization such as meeting minutes, newsletters, emails, reports, budgets, and other such material. The second accession contains diaries, correspondence, news clippings, and other documents related to the 1990 tenure controversy involving Charles Curran, a faculty member in Auburn's Department of Religion. The third accession contains the journal of Gary Mullen on Auburn University Faculty/University Issues for 2001-2003. There is a Department of Entomology ledger from the 1920s and some photos and slides of entomology from the 1920s to the 1970s included in the collection.
