About this Book

After a northern Illinois middle-school class read "Is It Night or Day?," a historical novel that captures the friendship of two Holocaust refugees, the students made it a school-wide project to reunite the two women 73 years after their long ago immigration journey. The two women, now in their eighties, were reunited in Seattle, Washington, in 2011. This work of historical non-fiction serves as a model of service learning for students.
