THE ELEGY FOR A CENTURY
About this Book
The Boxer Rebellion involved both the conflict between Christian civilization and Chinese civilization and the series of conflicts between civilians and religions triggered by the arrogance of imperialism in the late 19th century as Christianity expanded under the wing of the imperialism in North China. At the same time, numerous factors, such as the conservatism of the imperial court and the rare drought at the end of the century, coinciding unexpectedly in the special environment of North China along with the various negative emotions of the people, caused this movement to get out of control. From this perspective, this book reveals the origin of religious Boxer Rebellion and the inner logic of the rapid development of the Boxer Rebellion. Through a micro-analysis of a series of conflicts, the book shows a panoramic view the movement and the battle against the Eight-Power Allied Forces.
