About this Book

The story of an ambitious woman in Scotland at the end of the nineteenth century, who can only realise her ambitions through the men in her life. First, her possessiveness and interference alienate her husband. Then she gives her life to the education of her son as a doctor - but he wants to be more than just her puppet. Her third love is for God; she becomes a nun, but finds the constrictions of convent life difficult to bear.
