dc.description: This book is deals with only the 1st adhyaya and 1st Sarga of Raghuvamsha : RAGHUVAMSA : A Mahakavya, in 19 cantos, by Kalidasa. It describes the activities of the kings of Iksvaku race from Dilipa to Agnivarna. It takes its name from the famous king Raghu, son of Dilipa. It contains fine specimens of poetry at various places, e.g. the description of Dilipa s journey to Vasistha s hermitage (canto I), account of the Svayamvara-sabha of Indumati (canto vi), description of the confluence of the Ganga and the yamuna (canto xiii), etc. It is based chiefly on the Ramayana.
