Description
This is the second of eight books of madrigals by the English composer Clive Strutt (b.1942). It comprises five items scored for SATB (either soloists or a small chorus). The madrigals were composed in 1967 at Rackwick on the island of Hoy, Orkney. All the texts are by Oscar Wilde and a performance of all items requires about 12 minutes. The frontispiece coloured illustration is a reduction of a specially commissioned watercolour painting by Choe Brayn (1969), and its subject matter is based on the third madrigal in the book, Serenade (For Music).
