Description
This book is an exposition of geometry from the point of view of mechanics. B. Yu. Kogan begins by defining concepts of mechanics and then proceeds to derive many sophisticated geometric theorems from them. In the final section, the concepts of potential energy and the center of gravity of a figure are used to develop formulas for the volumes of solids. These could formerly be derived only by the use of the calculus.
