Este é um conceito teórico e o artigo discute os aspectos essenciais, que são a real necessidade de se prescrever tal abordagem, a sua durabilidade, e as limitações reais desse tipo de tratamento, tanto em aplicação preventiva quanto curativa da infestação. O assunto deve ser seriamente ponderado, especialmente quando há risco de destruir a barreira biológica do solo, tema discutido em outro artigo.
