Janet A Prologue to the Novel

The novel Janet (aka The Story of a Governess) was serialized in Lady's Pictorial beginning in January 1890. The magazine also published this prologue to the novel in December 1889. This prologue was not included when the novel was published in book form. The Story of a Governess is available here on Internet Archive.
