In this medium-length book Ballantyne treats us to a rather typical tale of a young man who goes off to sea, has various adventures and swimming exercises in the Pacific Ocean, and then makes it back home to Britain. Just a plain adventure story with the usual sort of adventures. Even the author's preface is unusually bland. The book has eleven good pictures. First published 1879.
